When Clyde gets excited, he brings a whole new meaning to "monkeying around!"
This series is part of Scholastic's early chapter book line called Branches, which is aimed at newly independent readers. With easy-to-read text, high-interest content, fast-paced plots, and illustrations on every page, these books will boost reading confidence and stamina. Branches books help readers grow!
Clyde is an energetic student who just can't sit still. When he gets too excited, he transforms into a real monkey! When the class bully challenges Clyde's "monkey me" to the pet talent show, he has no choice but to participate. But when the other pets start to disappear, Clyde uses his inner monkey to save the day.

We received this book via Netgalley.
This is book two in a series of books with Clyde being a monkey. You do not have to read book one to understand how he turns in to a monkey it is revealed to you in this story. Now the pictures are in black and white and not too attractive to the eye but the story is funny. You have Clyde who is a normal boy but when he gets too excited he turns into a monkey or seems to find himself in situations. With this one he has to figure out why people's pets are disappearing. Can he find out or will he be caught? He also has to take a class picture but who will ruin the picture? Pretty funny and it was interesting to see how the story goes from a story with words to a comic when Clyde transforms.  K likes the book to where he wants to read it again, he thought it was funny when Clyde turns into a monkey.
Now the reason I am giving this book a 4 star is the author used way to many 'I saids' within the story.
Example. Claudia said, I said, Claudia said, I said. After a while I stopped saying the word it became too much. I think the author could do without as many 'saids' Over all good story and we will be reading more from this author.
